Enhance and upscale
How to increase the resolution of photos and videos in Clipia — the basic mode and the Topaz mode, 2× and 4× upscaling, file limits and prices in credits.
Quality enhancement raises the resolution of a finished photo or video and sharpens its details. It helps when a shot came out small or soft, when a clip needs to be published in high resolution, or when material has to be ready for print.
Where to enhance
- The Enhance photo quality page (
/enhance). At the top there's a What to enhance: Photo / Video switch. The link/enhance?kind=videoopens the video mode directly. - The Enhance quality tab in Image Studio — a quick photo upscale with no settings.
- A finished work in My works or in the result preview: the Enhance photo window for images and Enhance Quality for videos. There's no need to upload the file again.
Modes
Photo · Basic
Price: 3 credits per photoThe mode picks the result size itself, up to 4K. Works well for most shots.
Photo · Enhanced
Price: 2× — 4 credits, 4× — 7 creditsModels: Topaz (Topaz Labs)
Choose 2× or 4×; works out fine detail more carefully.
Video · Basic
Price: HD — 2 credits, Ultra — 3 credits per secondResult size HD (up to 2K) or Ultra (up to 4K). Clips up to 180 seconds.
Video · Enhanced
Price: ×2 — 4 credits, ×4 — 5 credits per secondModels: Topaz (Topaz Labs)
×2 or ×4 on each side of the source. Clips up to 60 seconds.
The Enhanced button carries the caption "powered by Topaz", so you can see which model will process the file.
How to enhance a photo
Upload the image
Open /enhance and drop a file into the window or click to choose one. JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, TIFF, BMP and GIF up to 10 MB are accepted.
Choose a mode
Basic or Enhanced. In the Enhanced mode, pick 2× or 4×. If the photo is too large for a factor, that factor is disabled with a hint about the maximum size that fits.
Check the cost and start
The cost is shown below the form. Press Enhance image.
Wait for the result
The status changes from Uploading image… to Task is queued… and then Enhancing image…. Keep the page open while the file uploads. After that you can close it: the task continues.
Compare and download
The Before / After slider shows the difference; drag it or use the arrow keys. Below it you'll see the size in pixels and the processing time. Choose Download, Enhance again or New image.
The result is saved in My works.
How to enhance a video
Open the video mode
On /enhance, choose Video, or open the Enhance Quality window on a finished clip in My works.
Upload an MP4 or MOV
You'll see the upload percentage and can cancel it. iPhone videos in MOV (HEVC) don't need converting.
Choose the mode and result size
In the Basic mode, pick HD (up to 2K) or Ultra (up to 4K). In the Topaz mode, pick ×2 or ×4 on each side of the source. The window shows the new resolution, for example "After enhance: 720p → 1440p", and how many seconds will be billed: "Billed: Ns".
Start
Press Enhance for N credits. You'll see a confirmation that the enhancement has started, along with the approximate processing time. You can close the page: the finished video arrives in My works with a notification.
Limits
| Mode | File | Length | When 4× is available |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photo · Basic | up to 10 MB | — | the factor is picked automatically |
| Photo · Enhanced (Topaz) | up to 10,000,000 bytes | — | the result is at most 4096×4096 px: up to 2048×2048 source for 2×, up to 1024×1024 for 4× |
| Video · Basic | MP4 or MOV up to 300 MB | up to 180 s | short side up to 720 px |
| Video · Enhanced (Topaz) | MP4 or MOV up to 100 MB | up to 60 s | short side up to 540 px, long side up to 1024 px |
How videos are handled:
- Video above 1080p is first scaled down to 1080p: at most 1080 px on the short side and 1920 px on the long side. The factor is applied to the scaled-down frame, and a hint tells you about it.
- A clip that's too long isn't trimmed — it's rejected before any charge, because the system won't decide for you which part to pay for. Shorten the clip or choose a mode with a higher limit.
- An already enhanced work can't be enhanced again. Enhance the original instead.

Prices
Prices on this page come from the service pricing and are refreshed together with the documentation. The exact cost is always shown on the launch button before you're charged.
How video seconds are counted
You pay for whole seconds, rounded up. A small tail of up to 0.15 seconds isn't counted: a 5.1-second clip is billed as 5 seconds, and a 5.2-second clip as 6 seconds. The minimum is 1 second.
For example, a 10-second clip costs 20 credits in the Basic HD mode and 40 credits in the Topaz ×2 mode.
Confirming a large amount
If an enhancement costs 200 credits or more, a Start the enhancement? window opens before launch. It shows the cost, your current balance and what will be left after the start. If you're short on credits, the window offers Top up credits.
Credits are put on hold at launch and charged when the result is ready. If the model can't process the file, the credits return to your balance automatically.

Tips
- Enhancement makes an image sharper, but it doesn't invent what isn't there: a blurry face gets crisper, but the model won't recreate lost details.
- For 4×, start from a small source: up to 1024 px per side for photos in the Topaz mode, up to 540p for video.
- Long clips are cheaper to enhance in the Basic mode: 2 credits per second versus 4 credits in the Topaz mode.
- An image from Image Studio can be sent for enhancement with Use in…, without downloading it.
